MindMirror is privacy-first by design. All your check-in data is stored locally on your device. We never collect, store, or sell your personal information.
What Data We Collect
1. Voice Analysis (Temporary, Anonymous)
When you record audio, we temporarily process it through our ML service to:
- Transcribe speech using OpenAI Whisper
- Extract voice features (pitch, energy, speech rate)
- Analyze emotions from audio and text
Important:
- Audio is never stored on our servers
- Processing is temporary (deleted immediately after analysis)
- No personally identifiable information is extracted
- Analysis results are sent back to your device only
2. Local Storage (Your Device Only)
All check-in results are stored in your browser's local storage:
- Check-in history (timestamps, risk scores, emotions)
- Privacy settings (retention period, feature toggles)
- No server-side backup or cloud storage
- You have full control to export or delete anytime
3. No Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
We do NOT collect:
- Name, email, phone number, or address
- IP address or device identifiers
- Location data
- Cookies or tracking pixels
- Any information that can identify you
How We Use Data
- Voice Analysis: Temporary processing to generate mental health screening results (deleted immediately after)
- Local Trends: Your device uses stored check-ins to show longitudinal trends and generate personalized insights
- Service Improvement: Anonymous aggregate metrics (e.g., total analyses per day) to improve service reliability - no individual data

Access your Privacy Dashboard to view, export, or delete all your data anytime.

Set automatic data deletion after 30, 60, 90 days, or keep data indefinitely.
✓ Feature Toggles
Disable trend tracking or AI insights if you prefer not to use those features.
✓ Data Portability
Export all your data in JSON format to use with other tools or for personal records.
Third-Party Services
MindMirror uses the following third-party services for core functionality:
- OpenAI Whisper: Speech-to-text transcription (self-hosted, no data sent to OpenAI)
- HuggingFace Models: Text emotion analysis (self-hosted, runs on our servers)
All processing happens on our infrastructure. We do not send your data to third-party APIs.
Data Security
- All web traffic is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS)
- Audio processing happens in ephemeral containers (no persistent storage)
- Local storage is protected by browser security policies
- No server-side databases containing personal information

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
